Fred A. Humphreys, Post 8
Casa Grande, Arizona
In Honor of Fred a. Humphreys, A WWI Veteran.
A young veteran of World War I.  He was killed
in action on October 22, 1918, in the Verdun
Sector, battle of Argonne Forest in France.  He
had given his life some seven months after he
left the United States for overseas duty in
France.

Fred A. Humphreys was born on April 20, 1890
in Williams, Arizona, where he lived until the
earlier 1900's when he moved to California.  
Around 1910, his family moved to Casa Grande
where he lived until he was called to service in
1917.

His body was returned to Casa Grande on
January 29, 1919 for burial in the City's
Cemetery.  He was later moved to Mountain
View Cemetery on Oct 2, 1921.  Section A,
Block 48, Grave #1.
Here at post 8 we support the local Boy
Scouts of America, Boy's State Our Auxiliary
supports the Girl's State Championships. Our
American Legion Rider Organization supports
Operation Wounded Warrior.  We, The
American Legion, Auxiliary and American
Legion Riders, are very active in our
community's activities.  We participate in
events all over the state honoring our
veterans and our troops now in harms way.
